From ERIA, we spoke with Daniel Morales, CEO of Ingelectus, and Rubén Carmona, the company’s Smart Grids Director. The Seville-based startup is participating in the third edition of the acceleration program to validate, together with Estabanell, solutions that contribute to more flexible and efficient management of distribution grids. In this interview, they share the current status of the project and the lessons they are gaining from the program.

What is Ingelectus, and what energy sector challenge does it aim to address?

Ingelectus is a technology company specializing in the digitalization and intelligent management of electrical distribution grids. We help distributors leverage the information they already generate—GIS, SCADA, remote management, remote metering, or commercial data—to improve their operation, planning, and decision-making.
We combine knowledge of electrical power systems and grid models with software, artificial intelligence, and calculation engines. This allows us to develop solutions tailored to the needs of distributors.
One of our main focuses is to address the challenges of the energy transition: distributed generation, storage, electric mobility, and new consumption patterns. We particularly work on flexibility management in low voltage, to anticipate congestion, resolve constraints, and better utilize existing infrastructure.

What motivated you to apply for ERIA’s acceleration program?

We were motivated by the alignment between the challenge posed by ERIA and a strategic area we have been working on for years: flexibility management in distribution grids, especially in low voltage.
The electrification of demand, distributed generation, storage, and electric mobility make grids increasingly dynamic and complex to manage. Flexibility can help distributors resolve constraints, better utilize existing infrastructure, and complement certain grid investments.
The program allows us to compare our solutions with Estabanell’s real operational needs and validate the value of our grid models, algorithms, and digital tools in specific use cases. It also provides us with business perspectives from industry professionals.

What stage was your project in when you joined ERIA’s acceleration program?

Ingelectus was in a growth and scaling phase. We already had a developed product, clients, and real implementation experience, and we were beginning to consolidate our market position.
The challenge was to accelerate technology adoption, expand use cases, strengthen our value proposition, and grow alongside distributors with real needs and a clear commitment to innovation.

What do you hope to achieve with the acceleration program?

We want to validate and enrich our use cases related to flexibility management in distribution grids, leveraging the experience and operational knowledge of the Estabanell team, especially Anell. It is very valuable to compare our solutions with real problems and learn from those who manage the grid day-to-day.
We also seek to continue professionalizing the company and better understand how to scale our business model. As a company with a strong technical and engineering profile, the program helps us strengthen areas such as commercial strategy, positioning, and value proposition.

What do you value most about ERIA’s acceleration program?

We value the diversity of profiles accompanying us and their involvement. We have worked with technical profiles from the Estabanell group, who provide direct knowledge of a distributor’s needs, and with business profiles from ERIA and professionals from Aticco specializing in business and strategic areas.
As a technical team, these perspectives on product, business, positioning, and growth help us question approaches, identify opportunities, and improve how we present our solutions.

What has been the main learning or progress since the program began?

One of the main learnings has been understanding that a technically sound product must be accompanied by a complete value proposition. At Ingelectus, we tend to focus on ensuring the solution works, is robust, and solves complex problems.
The program has reinforced the importance of also having a clear business model, a well-defined commercial and growth strategy, and a simple narrative. Explaining what problem we solve, what impact we generate, and why our solution is differential for technical and business profiles is as important as the technology itself.
